The Waterloo Tower is a Miniature ring of 8 Church Bells hung in a purpose built frame in the Lounge of Aaron Moulder and Matthew Hull, in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.
The Bells were cast by Richard F Bowditch on St Georges Day, 23rd April 2009, subsequently tuned by Matthew Higby, and were installed on the 1st May 2009.
They are hung using second hand fittings from various other mini rings that have been demolished or fitted with new fittings.
The first ringing took place on Saturday 2nd May by ringers of the Irish Association of Change Ringers, fitting really, as the bells were cast from metal that came from the broken up 3rd Bell of the octave that used to hang at St Nicholas Church in Cork, Eire. As a fitting tribute to these bells, the word "Dublin" has been cut out of the inscripton band on the bell that once read "J Murphy Bellfounders, Dublin" and is preserved on the Bellframe.
The bells are tuned, in the key of Aflat to the Kirnberger III temperement, I dont have a clue what this means, but you might! Details of the bells are as follows:
The Bells:
1. (Bethany) Named after my Daughter (Inscribed "Bethany")
2. (Angel) Named after my God-Daugter
3. (Debby) Named after my Sister
4. (Treena) Named after my Sister
5. (Tracey) Named after my Favouretest Carnival Beatch (Ok, I know this is not gramatically correct!)
6. (Wendy) Named after my God-Mother
7. (Tiffany) Named after the 80s singer I would most like to invite round for tea!
8. (Carol) Named after my Mother. (Complete with Timber shanked Clapper!!)
